A noun is the name of a person, a
place or a thing.
There are five kinds of Noun:-
1)
Proper Noun:-
The name of a particular person, a place, or a thing is a proper noun.
Ex. Sonu was here on Tuesday.
2) Common Noun:-
Common noun is a name given in common to every person or thing of the
same class or kind. Like chair, pen, Tv, window, painting, candle. Common noun
are everywhere. Wherever we go we find atleats one common noun.
Ex. Girl, Boy, Woman, Man, Animal.
a) Boys
play in the ground. (Countable Noun)
b) Sonu
has read many novels. (Countable Noun)
c) Cows
give milk. (Uncountable Noun)
d) Water
is useful for health. (Uncountable Noun)
3)
Collective Noun:-
A collective noun is the name of a number of persons or things.
Ex. Crowd, Team, Army, Family, Nation, Parliament, Committee.
4)
Material Noun:-
Material noun is the name given to a material, substances or things.
Ex. Gold, Iron, Sugar, Tea, Oil, Milk, Rice and Wheat etc.
5)
Abstract Noun:-
An abstract noun names or an quality of an idea. Like other nouns, abstract
noun can be used as the subject in a sentences.
Action – laughter, theft, movement, judgement.
State – childhood, boyhood, youth, slavery, sleep, sickness,
death, poverty.
Quality
– goodness, kindness, whiteness, darkness, hardness, brightness, honesty,
bravery.
