Ø  The word which tells us how or in which manner an action is done.

Ex. 1) He speaks slowly.
       2) He writes neatly.

There are seven kinds of adverbs.

1.       Adverbs of manner (Showing ‘how…?)
Lazily, foolishly, quickly, fast, slowly, honestly, bravely.
2.       Adverbs of Place (Showing ‘where…?)
Here, there, up, down, near, in, out.
3.       Adverbs of Time (Showing ‘when…?)
Now, then, today, tomorrow, soon.
4.       Adverbs of frequency (Showing ‘how often…?)
Always, never, sometimes, often, seldom.
5.       Adverbs of Degree
Very, too, enough.
6.       Adverbs of reason
1)      Krishna was hence neglected by the teachers.
2)      She thus opened the door applying little visible force.
3)      He, therefore, does not want to talk to me.
4)      The teacher is ill and therefore is unable to come to school.
7.       Interrogative Adverbs
The interrogative adverbs Why, Where, How, and When are placed at the beginning of a question. These questions can be answered with a sentence or a prepositional phrase.

Ø  Afterwards
1.      You left at 4.00 and soon afterwards we left.
(तुम चार बजे निकले और तुरंत बाद हम निकले)                              
2.      I will come afterwards if you are busy now.
(अगर तुम अभी व्यस्त हो तो मै बाद में आऊंगा)
Ø  Ago
1.      They left just a minute ago.
(वे अभी एक मिनट पहले निकले)
2.      He had come here about two years ago.
(वह लगभग दो साल पहले यहाँ आया था)
Ø  Again
1.      I will think again.
(मै दुबारा सोचूंगा)
2.      Will you read the letter over again?
(क्या तुम पत्र एक बार और पढोगे?)
Ø  Ahead
1.      We reached an hour ahead of time.
(हम समय से एक घंटा पहले पहुंचे)
2.      Turn right from the first square and you will see the post office straight ahead.
(पहले चौराहे से दाहिनी ओर मुड़ोतो तुम्हे सामने ही डाकखाना दिखाई देगा)
Ø  Already
1.      I have already told him about this.
(मैने उसे इस बारे में पहले ही बताया है)
2.      I have already heard all about it.
(मैने इस बारे में सब कुछ पहले ही सुना है)
Ø  Down
1.      Get down off that table.
(उस टेबल से नीचे उतरो)
2.      Put that bag down.
(वह थैली नीचे रखो)
Ø  Early
1.      I don’t get up too early in the morning.
(मै सुबह बहुत जल्दी नही उठता)
2.      I think you got up early today.
(मुझे लगता है तुम आज जल्दी उठे)
Ø  Else
Any/every/no/some से प्रारम्भ होने वाले शब्दों के बाद और how, what, where, who, why के बाद कई बार Else का प्रयोग किया जाता है|
1. Everything else is okay.
(बाकी सब ठीक है)
2. He wants something else.
(उसे और कुछ चाहिए)
3. I want nothing else.
(मुझे और कुछ नही चाहिए)

Ø  Enough
1.      This rope is not strong enough.
(यह रस्सी उतनी मजबूत नही है)
2.      They are not working hard enough.
(वे पूरी मेहनत से काम नही कर रहे है)
Ø  Even
1.      Everyone came on time – even Sonu who never does.
(हर कोई समय पर आया – सोनू भी – जो कभी समय पर नही आता)
2.      This job can even take one month to finish.
(यह काम समाप्त होने में एक महिना भी लग सकता है)
Ø  Ever
1.      Have you ever thought about this?
(क्या तुमने कभी इस बारे में सोचा है?)
2.      Do you ever go there?
(क्या तुम कभी वहाँ जाते हो?)
Ø  Hardly
1.      He hardly ever comes here.
(वह शायद ही यहाँ आता है)
2.      I get hardly any free time these days.
(मुझे आजकल बहुत मुश्किल से खाली समय मिलता है)
3.       She hardly gets time to come here.
(उसे मुश्किल से ही समय मिलता है यहाँ आने का )
Ø  Never
1.      I never said that.
(मैने वैसा कभी नही कहा)
2.      I will never ever come here again.
(मै यहाँ फिर कभी नही आऊंगा)
Ø  Often
1.      I often wonder why people behave like this.
(मुझे कई बार आश्चर्य होता है कि लोग ऐसा आचरण क्यों करते है)
2.      I often listen to old music.
(मै अक्सर पुराने गाने सुनता हूँ)
